The goals for this presentation are for youth to understand mental health, understand the stigma associated with mental health/mental illness, better notice changes in their mental health, and learn where to go to ask for help.

We all experience stress in our lives, and stress can be overwhelming. This goals for this presentation are for youth to understand stress and its purpose, notice the signs of being distressed, and learn about coping and resources that are helpful with managing stress.

Our research has shown that youth are more likely to talk to other youth about their mental health issues when they talk to someone. The goals for this presentation are for youth to notice changes in their friends, become more comfortable checking in on a friend’s mental health, and learn how to connect a friend who is struggling to resources.

OUTDOORS, GROWING, BONDING
This program runs in the summer. As a group you will collaboratively grow a vegetable garden and explore nature trails, farms, and lakes around the Ottawa/Gatineau regions. This program pairs spending time in nature with a conversational element. If you’re a person who wants to get outside, learn how to grow a garden, or likes to chill- this program is for you.

This art-based program focuses on coping with stress through visual arts and creative writing. Through art expression and conversations about mental health, youth are encouraged to express themselves and connect with each other.

In Winter Wellness, youth learn how to cope in the winter through outdoor activities. We run a variety of winter-based activities and all transportation, lift tickets, equipment, rentals and lessons are included and absolutely free to participants.

Through mindfulness meditation, yoga, and discussion with peers, this program encourages youth to discover themselves and connect with others. Most of all, it teaches youth the key aspect of mental health maintenance, which is self-care, and encourages them to take a while just to breathe. This program is for youth 15 and older.
